Olantica uses an in-wold currency called “Olantos”. Many products sold by Olantica residents may be able to be purchased for your avatar such as clothing, furniture, scripts, vehicles, plants, buildings etc… In order to buy these products you will need to purchase Olantos. $1US = O$100, so an item that cost O$30 in-world is really just $.30.

To purchase Oantos we have setup a web page that uses PayPal to make the purchase. Once you fill in the form and submit, you will go to the PayPal website to enter your payment information. After your finished with the PayPal portion the Olantos will be deposited in your in-world account. On most viewers the balance will show up on the top-right corner of the menu bar.

We are still working on trying to smooth out the purchase process, if you buy currency while your logged in, the new balance may not show right-away. Moving to a different region or relogging should force an update.

Cashing Out

Some people may refer to this as selling currency. Since we are not running some kind of currency market or exchange program, we prefer to think of it as just recovering the money that your in-world account holds.

Currently there is no method for exchanging Olantos with currency from other grids, cashing out is currently the only way to move your balance from your Olantica account to real life.

Since we incur a small fee when anyone purchases Olantos and we don’t pass that fee to the users upfront we have have adjusted the cash out rate to compensate for those fees. We will buy back your Olantos at a rate of $.90 for every O$100. It is not our goal to make money off the in-world currency but to provide a way for users to buy goods and services offered in-world.

In order to help cut down on potential fraud, we have the cashing out process decidedly manual. You will need to submit a support ticket for “Buy/Sell Currency”. Make sure you include the name of your Avatar, the amount of Olantos you wish to cash out, and the PayPal account email address we need to send payment to. We will do a small audit of your account to make sure all is in order before proceeding to send the money to you. Please allow 24-36 hours for this process.
